Hi Bruce & Dana,

I am a great-grandson of Yung Hoy/Hoy Yung/Yung Sing Kew/Young Yew Huan and great-grand-nephew of Yung Wing, so we are descendents of the 120; I believe he was in the third detachment.

I believe my Uncle Richard may have presented a paper which you quoted (Yung, Richard Him. “Yung Hoy's Legacy: The Influence He Had on His Descendants.”) Also this web article:

And I believe my cousin Debbie is on the short list of family historians.

Hello, I am working on my Master's at Fudan's journalism school. I was researching CEM for a history paper and this site was tremendously helpful. I find it thorough, engaging, and clearly written. Thank you!

I am the archivist at the Hartford Public High School Museum & Archive. It has been a great pleasure to be in contact with descendants of the C.E.M. boys who attended in the 1870's, and I hope that this contact will continue. I often receive research requests about the C.E.M. and learn new things about the boys and their careers after leaving HPHS.

I enjoyed exploring your website. It is so well-organized and easy to maneuver! My maternal grandfather Liu Yu Lin was one of the participants (in the 4th batch) in the CEM. I believe the picture shown on your website is not him. I had a discussion a few years ago with my cousin, Jiaming, and his daughter, Diana Lau, and we all think the picture was mislabeled. If you like I can send you a picture of my grandfather taken when he was appointed "total powered ambassador" to Great Britain.

Great Site. It might not be a bad idea to have this site also in Chinese. It might aid the communication of the decedents who returned to China who do not know English.

I believe that my great grandfather was a member of the 120 Chinese Education Mission. I would like to find out more about this part of my families history.
